Doctor Of Medicine Program: Pathway To Matching

Students enrolled in our School of Medicine program spend two years studying the basic sciences, followed by access to clinical training opportunities at over 75 leading hospitals and health systems in the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Entry points are available for students with various levels of education – including Four, Five, Six and Seven-year pathways.

Bachelor’s degree in the requisite sciences

Entering students can start in Grenada in January and August or in the UK in September.

Advanced Levels: Minimum 3 subjects with A’s and B’s in Biology, Chemistry, and either Math or Physics; Math or Physics can be accepted at AS level with strong non-science third A level.

Approved Foundation Programs: SGU recognizes and approves a range of science/medical pathway programs.

Full IB Diploma: Requires a minimum score of 32 points; 3 HL science subjects recommended; minimum of 2 HL subjects required, which must include Chemistry and Biology; results 5 or higher.

Associate Degree: 60 credits (or equivalent), with Biology, Chemistry, and Math.

Malaysia STPM: Minimum 3 subjects BBB; Biology, Chemistry & either Math or Physics at Principal level.

Singapore A Level/SIPCAL: BBB at H2 level, including Biology, Chemistry & either Math or Physics.

Vietnam Bang Tot Nghiep Cao Dang: Certificate of University Studies, 8 or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Math, Physics.

Entering students can start in Grenada in January and August or in the UK in September.

Secondary School Diploma: Strong science performance.

Further education: AS Levels, Baccalaureate, South Africa Matric, Higher School Exam, Irish Leaving Certificate.

BTEC: Diploma must be in the appropriate sciences with grades of Distinction.

American High School Diploma with AP test grades of 4 or 5 in Biology and/or Chemistry, or averages of 95%+.

Hong Kong DSE: 3 HKDSE subjects with Level 3 or above, plus Level 4 or above in Biology and Chemistry

Indonesia SSTB-SMA: 86%

Philippines High School Diploma: Lower then 1.5

South Korea: Senior High School Diploma with B or higher in foundation sciences, Math and English.

Taiwan Senior High School Leaving Certificate: Minimum 6 subjects Bs; Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics, English

Thailand Certificate of Secondary Education/MAW 6: Minimum 6 subjects (M6); 3 or higher in English, Sciences and Math

Entering students can start in Grenada in January and August. 

American High School Diploma

IGCSE: B or better in minimum 6 subjects, which include Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics, and English

China Gaokao: 600 in five subjects which include the Sciences, Math & English; may need to supplement – 90%+

A UK Pathway
to an MD Degree

Thanks to a partnership that exists between St. George’s University of Medicine and Northumbria University in Newcastle, SGU provides you with the opportunity to earn an MD and complete up to 50% of your degree in the United Kingdom.

A Pathway to an MD Degree starting in India

During the 5-year pathway, students will have the opportunity to experience global healthcare systems across several countries: Year 1 in India, Year 2 in the UK or Grenada, Year 3 in Grenada, and Years 4 and 5 in the US or UK.

Dr. Evelyn Fang has practiced family and internal medicine at United Family Hospitals (UFH) Clinics in Beijing since April 2005. The UFH is a revolutionary international standard health care organization with four sites in China, each dedicated to providing comprehensive, fully integrated health care services with compassion and care.

Dr. Fang is certified by both the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine. She has a special interest in public health, primary care education, preventive care and chronic disease management.
