“I would highly recommend St. George’s University to prospective medical students. SGU definitely prepared me for my career in the US, and the standard there is on par and, in most cases, even higher than US medical schools I’ve encountered. SGU students also have a drive to succeed that is unparalleled.

SGU is the right choice for Caribbean students that want to become physicians because it offers a great training ground for those who would like to train abroad and gain an unparalleled cultural experience by meeting people from all over the world.”

“SGU provides the platform for Caribbean nationals to break into this ultra-competitive US market and if you are thinking of pursuing a sub-specialty or a career in medicine in the US, then you can look no further than SGU.”

“I wanted to be close to home, and I wanted to learn somewhere that I could go anywhere else in the world. Getting a residency starts with your training, but SGU goes the extra mile. The extra mile is connections through other alumni and grads that are in other hospitals and that gives you more confidence in being able to apply. I’m still able to treat Trinidadians, Jamaicans, and other Caribbean people in New York City. My job is not work, I absolutely love it.”

“SGU truly does care about its students. I think they really prepared us well for our exams and for residency. They’re with you every step of the way, and provide a lot of support for the students through DES and other services that they are available on campus. I think it’s just a well balanced, holistic educational experience.

I think SGU offers what a lot of other medical schools don’t—diversity in its student population. You meet people from all different parts of the world and all walks of life. They come in with different stories, including about what they’re getting into medicine. You hear them and you get so inspired, and it pushes you to be a better doctor. Learning about people’s cultural differences really helps us when we come to the US to do rotations and even as we do our residency, because you also meet a lot of people from different walks of life. I think we become more sensitive to other people, their culture, their needs, and how they would perceive what we’re telling them in their culture.”
